I know that many of you have been wondering what I've been up to for the past few months, and this is it!
I've started my own company, called Cricket&Blue, and I specialize in custom handmade horsehair jewellery. The company is named and was founded in honour of my friends' mares, Cricket and Blue, who passed away this summer. Cricket&Blue is the recipient of the 2011 Summer Company award for student entrepreneurs from the provincial government of Ontario.
All bracelets are made using only the finest .925 sterling silver hardware (and for those of you with metal allergies, these are safe! I know because I have the worst metal allergy, and am even allergic to "allergy-free" jewellery) and genuine horsehair.
Featured above is the Passion bracelet in dark mix (top), black and white mixed pattern (middle), and black and while vertical stripe (bottom). All three of these bracelets have been spoken for, but Passion bracelets are currently available in your choice of colour and pattern for $105.
Oh wow these are gorgeous! It's so nice, as a horse person, to have a little bit of that with you all the time, without having to have horses running accross your shirt or something. Good luck in growing your company!
Clients love them for just that reason -- they're so personal, and are quite literally a little part of your partner and friend, but they're classy and subtle. I get complements on mine all the time from people who aren't even horse-lovers!
Yes, I wish I had known about it before. I would have loved to have something concrete to remember my horse with (though I have kept his bridle and never washed it...yeah i'm a weirdo )
This is really cool though...and I could definitely see you branching out eventually, like making earings and stuff. Again, good luck I think it's a great idea!
Keeping his bridle is a great idea! By far the most rewarding aspect of the job is delivering the bracelet and having the customer open it and break into tears. It breaks my heart every time, but it's so amazing to have a part in it!

Thank you very much
